Work it Out

In honor of labor day, worked laboriously yesterday!

This week we had decided to have people over for dinner on Friday as a nice way to keep getting to know people. It seemed logical since Saturday everyone has their outdoor activities planned and Sunday is the big CU/CSU game! So knowing this was coming all week, I would assess we did about NOTHING until Thursday night. Then panic set in when we determined that all of our pictures were still sitting on the floor (we don't have a drill), all of the plates were dirty (easiest fix- hooray dishwasher), and Mattie had successfully gotten his hair on EVERYTHING in the whole place (most distinctly, his favorite spot on our black couch). So on Thursday night we tried get everything in shape but didnt have the right tools which is so annoying- STILL looking for where I put that little leveler (eye roll). Thus Thursday night was pretty much a wash. We dusted and windexed but that only gets you so far when the cat is following you rubbing his little hairs on everything that is now wet. Friday was much better. We borrowed a drill from Jake and Caitlin, bought a huge leveler that is difficult to store much less misplace, and managed to get everything done about ten minutes before everyone came. The place looks great and it's so nice to have everything fairly "complete." Just dont open any of the drawers... :)

Our dinner party went great. I made an enchilada recipe from Real Simple that was very tasty (I had practiced earlier in the week so Brent is probably royally sick of enchiladas now!). The only slip up of the night was when our brand new food processor broke. It would never turn the blade so it took me forever to cook but we had chips, salsa, guac, and Matt to entertain everyone! Overall, I think the party was a success. Shout out to Jessica- everyone LOVED your margarita recipe!

It was really fun to finally get to use all of our new bar wear, plates, and serving platters. I finally had a justification for Brent on why it was necessary to have TWO chip and dips! We were happy for the company and are excited for the rest of the weekend!
